Looking a bit sad these days is the ex PNG ex RAAF C-47B P2-003. Still an amusement at the Amaroo Hotel.

The source wrongly states that this photo shows the departure of Skymaster '313' to the East Indies with members of parliament in 1946. Since the aircraft is NL-300, what we see here is almost certainly the departure of the first postwar flight to the East Indies (Indonesia) on 10 November 1945, captained by KLM chief pilot Dirk Parmentier. This L-12A was built by Lockheed as NC16077 in October 1939. It was shipped to England in April 1939 aboard the SS Aquitania, registered G-AFTL for photographic duties around Europe and North Africa. This plane was the last British registered aircraft to leave Germany before the start of WWII. After the outbreak of the war it retained its civil reg. and was used as a camera ship and to test the efficiency of aircraft reporting system. It was badly damaged when a parachuted mine hit the hangar at Heston so returned to Lockheed for repairs. It would not return to UK skies again until March 2022.

Ex Soviet AF 22 Yellow. Made its last flight from St Petersburg to Lipki Airfield near Minsk in 1977 and displayed at the old Belarus State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War (as 56 Blue) before being relocated in 2011 to Borovaya Airfield for temporary display at the Museum of Aviation Technology. Moved again in 2013 for display at the new Belarus State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War (N53.9162 E27.5379).

F/F 12 July 1958 as N246V for Continental Airlines. Sold to Channel Airways 13 Dec.1966 but leased back to Continental the same day, until delivered to Southend 19 Feb.1967 and registered to Channel Airways as G-AVHK 21 Feb.1967. Scottish Flyer titles applied Jan.1969 for the Southend-Aberdeen bus-stop service, which was suspended 28 Nov.1969 due to losses incurred. Scottish Flyer titles removed Feb.1970, then placed in open store at the end of the bulbfield flights in June 1970 and used for spares. Scrapped July-August 1972. Cancelled 21 Mar.1973 as PWFU.

Nearing lift off at Lake Hood Seaplane Base in Anchorage, Alaska. On July 18, 2018, this Beaver was destroyed in a fatal accident at Willow Seaplane Base when it it stalled after takeoff due to being overloaded and and with the CG too far aft.

Assigned to the AAC Centre, Middle Wallop. Delivered to the Army as XP778 in 1961. Exported to the USA in 1990 and registered as N450P in 1991. Current on the register in 2023.

For a number of years this C-47 is preserved near the border between Slovenia and Croatia close to the village of Otok. It serves as a monument to a provisional airfield called Piccadilly Hope which was used by the allied forces during World War II in order to supply the Partisans led by Josip Broz Tito in their fight against Nazi Germany. The aircraft was delivered as KG783 to the Royal Air Force in August 1944 and also flew for the French Air Force before ending up with the Yugoslav Air Force somewhere around 1971.

Used for spares and subsequently scrapped.

Registered 16 June 1959. VIP version operated by the Romanian Government in TAROM livery. Cancelled 17 November 1976.

Registered to Air Service Hungary around 1966. Cancelled in November 1979 and moved to this location by October 2014.

In transit through Prestwick: departed for Marseille following an overnight stop after arriving from Keflavik. Initially flew in 1972 as C-GBUF, the De Havilland Canada company demonstrator for the DHC-5D Buffalo Transporter development. In 1977 joined the Force Aerienne Islamique Mauritanie (Mauritanian Islamic Air Force) and was delivered through Prestwick. Later became 3D-AIR with Ocean Air. Finally broken up in Kenya by 2006.
