This was once a regular tail-dragging twin-tail Beech 18 (C-45G 51-11851), but in 1969 it was converted into this very different-looking PAC Tradewind, with a single fin and a nose gear. Stored at Merrill Field since the early 2000s, and starting circa 2010 it was slowly being stripped of parts. It was still there by early 2018, but by then in pityful condition, laying on its tail.
Originally World War II 42-2472 , this Beech 18 was re-manufactured to become USAF 51-11696. Having flown for years with Mercy Flights of Medford, OR, the aircraft was retired in 1980. It's now on display at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA.
Registered on 31 Jan 1968. This aircraft was withdrawn from use in the early 1980s, and the registration was cancelled on 9 July 1981. It was later reported as preserved in Takigawa, Japan, but no evidence of this could be found.
