This C-47 has a long history: built as C-47A USAAF 42-92647, RAF KG436, back to USAAF. Converted to C-47D. To civil EI-ACT and EI-ALT. In 1961 to the French Navy as 12471/71. Currently in the Musée de l'Air collection. Photographer unknown

Former Lee County Mosquito Control District, Wings of Dreams Museum, Turin Aviation Group and currently registered to Skytrain Company LLC. Arrived at Leeward Air Ranch about 6 months ago. While engines, ailerons and rudder have been removed, there was a trailer on the opposite side of the aircraft so hopefully the owner is in the process of getting the aircraft back flying again.

Well-hidden in a large barn full of historic aircraft and historic cars, the museum at Albert is proud to have this C-47 on display. It arrived with the collection on 14 April 2004 and is ex F-GEOA, French Navy 720 / 76420, French AF 476420, RAF KN379 and USAAF 44-76420. It came from the Musée de l'Aéronautique de Nancy, which was forced to close in 2000.

This Skytrain on display is actually 43-49507, the last C-47 in routine USAF use. Constructed as a C-47B-15-DK by Douglas at Oklahoma City, it was taken on by the USAAF as 43-49507 in November 1944 and postwar served with several different support units in Florida, Texas, Nebraska and Louisiana, having undergone modification to C-47D around 1947. It was flown to the museum in 1975 having accumulated 20,821 hours and in 1987 was painted in the marks of the 438th Troop Carrier Group, changed after 2010 to the current scheme representing a C-47A of the 439th TCG used to recover gliders on D-Day

Delivered to the USAAF as C-47A 42-92104 in 1943. Modified to a C-47D in 1967. To the El Salvador Air Force in 1970. Stored close to the museum collection at Ilopango.

Last operational with 834TCW at Hurlburt Field, 43-49507 was the last C-47 in routine operation with the USAF, the aircraft was allocated to the Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson at the end of June 1975 and is displayed there at time of upload as 315213 a C-47A of the 91st Troop Carrier Squadron, 439th Troop Carrier Group, which was used to recover gliders used in the invasion of France on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
