AirHistory.net is a historical aviation photo database website created by and for enthusiasts and researchers. Our primary goal and purpose is the documentation of aviation history, but we also recognize that today's aviation photos document tomorrow's history. We encourage all photographers to contribute photographs - especially unique, historic, and rare ones to our database, which has been specially designed for searchability.
Unlike aviation websites that impose daunting standards for accepting photos, we are more concerned with the content of your photos and we understand that not all photos are taken in ideal conditions. We also strive to treat our contributors and uploaders with kindness, rather than arrogance, because we understand that scanning and uploading photographs can be time-consuming work.
Our staff aim to provide a friendly experience for uploaders and site visitors. We promote cooperation and the sharing of knowledge, information and photos among our photographers and the wider public, rather than competition between our contributors or profiteering.
Since going public in 2018, AirHistory.net has been entirely free to use and free of advertising. All work is carried out by a small team of unpaid volunteers, and the site is now operated as a registered non-profit foundation in the Netherlands, with no commercial interests. Running a large and growing archive like ours comes at a cost for servers, storage, data traffic, backups and security, and to help keep the site independent and free of advertising, we now welcome donations.
