First delivered in January 1944 as 42-100931, the US Air Force kept this C-47 in service until 1956. Purchased by Remmert Werner, it was rebuilt (N56U) for Trans Canada Pipelines registered CF-JUV. Duplate Canada Limited (producer of glass and molding products) acquired the aircraft in 1959. Pictured visiting a Duplate plant in London, pilot Frank Vines always had his lawn chair and a newspaper to read next to the airplane awaiting returning executives. Since 2008, the aircraft (N1944M) has been part of the Lyon Air Museum, exhibited in American Airlines Flagship colors.
