This experimental "tilt-wing" design was an attempt to produce an aircraft that would combine vertical take-off-and-landing with a low-speed, fixed-wing capability. Four CL-84s were constructed and this one with registration CX8402 is the third prototype, manufactured by Canadair Limited in Montreal in 1969.

Lancaster KB848 was a Canadian-built Mark X bomber, delivered to the UK in January 1945 and assigned to RCAF's 428 Squadron. It did not fly combat missions and was returned to Canada in May 1945. In the 1950s, it was converted to a Mk.10 DC and used for Ryan Firebee drone trials. The cockpit section is preserved and on display at the Museum.
