A very rare photo it seems and hard to find anything about this airframe online. Built and delivered in 1974 and quite possibly withdrawn from use in 2000 at Libreville. Back in the days we used to get many exotic aircraft, new Fokkers on training flights etc., unfortunately times have changed since then.
A ramp shot of Groningen Airport Eelde back in the day. The old tower, old viewers terrace. What a very different world compared to today. No hassles and everything was possible! Luckily we still have these old photos to remind us of good times.
One of the rewards of having full airport access is being there when a new aircraft is towed from the hangar while still in the stages of being made ready for service. This airframe started life as N889US with US Air as N889US and finished life as P2-ANA with Air Niugini after a mercury spill rendered it totally U/S. Sadly the next step was the airport fire dump at Brisbane.
