Northwest Airlines was a major operator of the 727 having flown over 110 of the aircraft. This one was delivered October 5, 1977, retired in 2007 and sold to Charlotte Aircraft Corporation to be parted out. Though still officially Northwest Airlines, Northwest Orient titles began in the late 40s after establishing their trans - Pacific routes. The Orient part was gradually dropped after the merger with Republic Airlines in 1986.
This 727 flew with Tunisair christened "Kairouan" from 1976 to 1999 when it was sold to Kalita Equipment Leasing and converted to a freighter. First Air was the last airline to fly the aircraft from 2000 to 2003. Withdrawn in Ottawa, it has ended up training fire fighters at the airport.
