Stanley Hiller designed the first successful coaxial helicopter at the age if 15. In 1941 (at 17) he got contract from the Army to build his XH-44 "Hiller-Copter" design. First flying untethered on July 4, 1944, it allowed Hiller Industries to partner with Henry J. Kaiser to become United Helicopters in 1945. The company was re-named Hiller Helicopters in 1948. The XH-44 was donated to the Smithsonian in 1953.

Powell Air flew single engine aircraft and a couple of Piper Navajos when they were awarded a scheduled route between Powell River and Vancouver BC. They bought this Convair from Kelowna Flightcraft in 1981. The aircraft would leave their fleet in 1985 and go to the USA in 1987 as N204RA . Powell Air would merge with Air BC's Port Hardy operations in 1987 to form Pacific Coastal Airlines.

CP Air's first 747 diverted due to fog. In the days of major pulp mills on the Southern BC coast aiding fog formation and before CAT III approaches, closure of Vancouver International airport due to weather was more common. CP Air would organize a near by "Abbotsford operation" to run many of their flights. The "Empress of Japan" would later go to Pakistan International Airlines in a deal that saw CP's 747-217s traded for PIA's DC-10-30s.

American Airlines added thirty BAC 111s for short to medium haul routes in 1966 (allowing them to retire the last of their DC-6s). N5034 was in the fleet July 1966 - July 1977 and would next be operated by TAG International (VR-BHS). The aircraft was acquired by De Howard Corp in February 1988 and registered N333GB. It would be the second (and last) Rolls-Royce Tay powered One Eleven conversion. It last flew in 1992 and was broken up at San Antonio, TX in 1998.

US Army 58-1683 flew out of Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, AK after 1961. The Otter crashed in the Alaska Range mountains in March 1970. Struck off strength, it was rebuilt in Seattle (N3382) and returned to Alaska . Two landing accidents followed in 1972 and 75 where it flipped over and sank when touching down on the water with wheels down. Pictured after another rebuild, the Otter had a turbine conversion in 1997 and in 1999, went to Fiji (DQ-GLL). Damaged in a landing accident in 2009, the airframe was sold to Harbour Air in 2011, who have it stored as C-GHAQ for future rebuilt / parts.

This early DC-10 served with United Airlines 1971 - 1994. Bought by Federal Express in 1997, the aircraft remained in storage until converted to a MD-10-10F (N368FE) in 1999. Carrying cargo for another twenty years, the freighter completed it's last revenue flight on February 15, 2020 and went to Victorville, CA for storage.

Christened "MacRobert's Reply" and coded F in memory of Lady Rachel Workman MacRobert's WWII £25,000 gift to buy a Short Sterling. The bomber became a presentation aircraft in memory of her three sons, one dying in an pre-war aircraft accident and two who perished in action. Delivered February 1966, XT287 was broken up at Lossiemouth December 5, 1992 and scrapped at Elgin in 1997. The Buccaneers were in Cold Lake to participate in Exercise Maple Flag.

This is an Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services owned 757 that was first delivered for lease to Hispania February 15, 1989 (EC-247 / EC-EMV). It's pictured during lease to Air 2000 between July 1989 and July 2003. Next leased to AV8Air as G-OAVB, but never operated, the aircraft went to Astraeus Airlines in July 2004 on it's last lease. FedEx bought the airliner in 2007 and converted it to a freighter. It is current as N920FD at the time of uploading.

First flight of the Pathfinder 21 was in 1995. After Soloy cancelled the 19 seat project, it sat mostly idle at Olympia, WA after 1999. This is all that remains of the prototype conversion after parting out.

This 1971 F-28 flew with numerous airlines before coming to Canadian Regional in February 1995. It's pictured in an interim color scheme used after Canadian Airlines was purchased by Air Canada, but before Canadian Regional was merged with Air Canada Regional in November 2001. The aircraft was stored in April 2002 as the F-28 fleet was withdrawn.

The Soloy Pathfinder 21 was a conversion of a Cessna 208B powered by the Soloy Dual Pac (two side-by-side P & W PT-6 engines driving a single propeller) developed with Pratt & Whitney Canada. A 72 inch fuselage extension aft of the wing and extra capacity for cargo or baggage under the fuselage were other modifications. Soloy abandoned the program when the FAA required it be certified under FAR 25 (Transport category) requiring higher airframe strength that would be too expensive if not impossible to implement.

This 1958 Skylark hadn't flown for nearly 20 years when Ragwood Refactory aircraft restorers and the owner turned it into a fun STOL bushplane. With only the budget as a constraint, it was converted to a tail dragger, vortex generators added to the wings and tail, along with Alaskan Bushwheels and Cessna 180 gear legs, a bigger Continental O-470 engine, leading edge slats (adapted from Carbon Concepts Piper Cub custom parts) are only some of the changes. The unique aircraft was once described as "all function, no form".
