The Short Sealand is a very rare type of aircraft, out of 25 built, only three exist today! During 1952, the Indian Navy ordered a batch of ten Sealands, which were built to an enhanced specification. Accordingly, these aircraft featured dual controls, increased fuel capacity and uprated engines. All ten aircraft were delivered between January and November 1953 and retired around 1965. IN106 was first reported with the museum in October 1998.

Controls of a bygone era - it took muscles to fly Auntie Ju and her successor. On the pedestal are the engine controls and fuel tank selector. The knobs on the right control the oil coolers and compressed air. The levers above the pedals are for rudder trim. Unfortunately, the glass on most indicators has become very weathered while no placards have yet been uncovered from protective painting.

First flight 1963, delivered new to Malév June 12th 1963. 1971 was the year MA expanded to come twice a week, on monday afternoon with IL-18, and on friday afternoon with Tu.134A. July 29th 1978 the IL-18 flights were stopped after HA-MOC crashed on final aporach to Kastrup that afternoon. I actually wathed taqht final deprture from Fornebu, and one hour later I saw it had carshed in the sea on the TV news... Phoptograped by my good friend Jan Olav Martisnen from the Roof Terrance at FBU as HA-MOF is arriving, and a PanAM B707 is seen in background.

At that time, and until a brand new CN 295 was delivered, this BT-67 was the main (if not the only) transport asset of the Mali AF. It began its long life as C-47A s/n 42-100710, and was the 22nd airframe converted by Basler into a BT-67. Mali had two other BT-67s, serials TZ-389 and TZ-391 (the latter sold as C-GJKB).
