Built at Castle Bromwich in the later stages of WW, TE213 went to 33 MU at RAF Pershore on 23 May 1945. Flown with 135 other Spitfire Mk IXs to RAF Fayid for delivery to the SAAF 1 July 1947. Taken on charge 4 July 1947 and given the serial 5518. Retired in 1954 and placed on gate guardian duty at AFB Waterkloof, with the fake serial W5851 which was later 'corrected' to W5518. Restored to airworthy condition and painted as 5553 in 1995. This was another Mk IXE from the same batch that suffered a Cat 2 near Vereeniging 8 December 1950. Operated by the Moroccan Directeur Generale de la Securite Nationale. Ex N3600B and PH-LPS. Operated in Morocco from March 1967 and parked out of use at Malaga by January 1977. Cancelled from the register in December 1977, purchased by David Tallichet and John Hawke in early 1978 and registered as N9886A but remained in open storage at Malaga until 1996. Subsequently restored for display by the Museo Nacional De Aeropuettos Y Transporte Aereo at Malaga Airport and remains on display there in Spantax colours as 'EC-ASJ' at time of upload. Ex Ansett-MAL VH-BFA acquired by SAFE-Air in 1967 for spares for its fleet of Bristol 170s. What was left of -CVK was scrapped in 1981.

No idea how I came to possess this print! Looks like Woodford, pre-delivery. Re-reg RP-C1021 in 1974. To 9Q-CST (Shabair) in 1989, then Trans Service Airlift in 1992. Presumed scrapped.

To Suidwes Lugdiens as ZS-IPR in 1972. To the SAAF as 6906 in 1981. Back to ZS-IPR in 1995 then to the Dutch Dakota Association as PH-DDY in 1997.
