Built at Castle Bromwich in the later stages of World War 2, TE213 went to 33 Maintenance Unit at RAF Pershore on 23 May 1945. It was flown along with 135 other Spitfire Mk IXs to RAF Fayid for delivery to the SAAF 1 July 1947. It was taken on charge 4 July 1947 and given the serial 5518. It is now at the 5518 at the SAAF Museum. Seen here while serving as a gate guardian at AFB Waterkloof ca 1970.
