Taking off at Flying Legends 2014. Painted in unusual Norway AF / RAF No. 20 Transport Squadron markings, which were only briefly carried in Norway between June 1945 and Feb 1946. This Squadron, unrelated to the RAF's own No.20 Squadron, was in fact a continuation of the German Air Force 20 Transportfliegergeschwader. The squadron, formally controlled by the RAF, was the first step in re-establishing civil aviation in Norway after the war, using several DC-3s and Lockheed L-18 Lodestars. In 1946 the DC-3s were transferred to DNL, Norway's main pre-war airline and one of the predecessors of SAS.

Built for the USAAF as 42-6492. Later regns include NC34952, N34952, N233PB and YV-427C.

This was Cathay Pacific's first aircraft and named "Betsy".

The only one of the four DC-3's we saw at Bridgewater that wasn't a sprayer.

Ex USAF C-47B-50-DK, 45-1084. Mosquito control DC-3s were common in the southern states.

Operated by Ohio State University. Later sold to Air Sunshine and destroyed on January 15, 1977 trying to return to the Miami airport after developing engine trouble on take off. Other regns were NC28321, N73B, N477B and N73KW.

Ex USAAF 42-23728 and RAAF A65-10. Served with 34 Squadron using call sign VHCTK. Sold to Guinea Airways on 30 December 1946 as VH-AVM and on to ANA in May 1947. Returned to the USA in June 1953 as N1433V and scrapped circa 1984. From ANA 60 years ago.

Originally built for the USAAF in 1945 as a Douglas C-47B-30DK and allocated the serial 44-76552. Cn amended due to inadvertent duplication. Shipped immediately to Australia and taken on RAAF charge as A65-91 on 6 April 1945. Served with the RAAF until 15 Jan 1986 when sold to Golden West Airways. Registered VH-TMQ 28 Aug 1988 to Collbrina Transport, but left to deteriorate at Essendon Airport. Acquired by Air Nostalgia 1 July 1996 and restored - first flight 31 March 2000.

DC-3 taken over on the production line by the USAAF as C-49J 43-1978. Post war served Braniff and United Airlines. Retains the original right-hand door but now fitted with panoramic cabin window. The aircraft is operated by Whitman Manufacturing.

Delivered to the USAAF as c-47A-35-DL, 42-23861, this aircraft flew with Northern Airways, All American Airways, and Allegheny prior to Ortner. It was destroyed on September 11, 1975 when it crashed during a ferry flight.
