Designed against a contract to supply a carrier capable Anti Submarine aircraft the B-88/YB.1 was the ultimate development of the earlier B-54/YA.7 and B-54/YA.8. The one and only B-88/YB.1 first flew on 19th July 1950 and appeared at Farnborough a couple of months later. While the earlier versions shared the same basic airframe, the aircraft was powered by an Armstrong Siddeley Double Mamba engine, which also powered the Fairey Gannet which went on to win the contract. SOC in December 1955, the aircraft was scrapped at Fleetlands in 1963.

"City of St Louis" served C&S from new in April 1940 until the airline's merger into Delta on 1 May 1953. It is operating Flight 92 to Kansas City per the sign near the right-hand passenger door. View looking South as Ringway's main runway is being extended from 4200 ft to 5900 ft at the left. A temporary runway has been marked out on the grass airfield but was little used. 06-24 came back in operation in November 1951 and scheduled flights with DC-6B's commenced to New York in late 1953. The extension was therefore well justified.

This was the second Viscount prototype, fitted with short fuselage and two Rolls Royce Tay turbojets for test purposes. This appearance at the 1950 Farnborough SBAC show was its only public display. Latterly mainly used by Boulton Paul for control systems tests. Damaged beyond repair by fire in a wheel well during 1958 and scrapped at Seighford in 1960 with 110 total flying hours.
