There are three C-47s painted as RI-001 in Indonesia. The real RI-001 was c/n 26903, fate unclear. This one is said to be c/n 12514 which was 42-92686, DT-991, NI-480, PK-RCI, T-491, PK-DPK and lastly PK-GDZ of Garuda. PK-GDZ crashed near Surabaya on 29 December 1961, and this is likely to be a composite airframe.

One of the main targets on todays hike. The aircraft entered service with the US Army Air Force around 1942 as 42-23716. Later it went to the Argentine Navy as 0172 with code 5-T-22. It was withdrawn from use in 1979 and went to the Aero club at Ushuaia.

Johnson Flying Service bought this C-47A from the USAAF (ex 43-15731) in 1946 and operated it out of their base at Missoula, MT until sold in 1977. In 2001 Stan Cohen's Museum of Mountain Flying, also based at Missoula, bought it from McNeely Charter Service, and it arrived back at Missoula on 17 Oct 2001 on delivery. Initially the museum restored the aircraft to static display condition and by 2008 it had been repainted it in these original Johnson colours. It was later restored to flying condition, and Miss Montana had its first post-restoration flight out of Missoula on 19 May 2019. Three weeks later it participated in the Berlin Airlift 70th Anniversary in the UK, France and Germany as seen here, in pristine condition.

Wartime C-47 that was delivered to the RAF and seconded to the RCAF, this Dakota was acquired by Trans Canada Airlines in 1946. Airline operated until taken over by Transport Canada in 1961, it's pictured during it's time operating for the Canadian Coast Guard on anti-pollution patrols and ice reconnaissance. Sold to Buffalo Airways in 1998, the aircraft was stored in Red Deer, AB as a parts source. The registration was changed to C-FBAE in 2011 when Air Spray requested use of the C-FDTH registration on one of their Lockheed Electras.

This pic was included in the estate of the late Peter Baeten. I doubt if many of the ca. 100 pics were Peter's own work. Only two slide mounts carried the names of the maker. If you are the maker of this pic, please contact the uploader. Former X-13 of the Netherlands Air Force, possibly taken at Biak. It crashed 2 January 1961 with the loss of the entire crew.
