VH-ARD at Haifa after being delivered to the fledgling Israeli air force. It had been acquired in Italy on 28 May 1948, in exchange for DC-3 I-TROS which became VH-BNH. The DC-5 was being used for migrant charters when the exchange took place, and with the Israelis it was later used as a makeshift bomber. Photo by Flight-Lieutenant D.A.S. MacKay.

Unsuccessful attempt to develop a naval fighter. This photo from Sud-Ouest is often claimed to be the first prototype but has the serial 02 on the fin. Confusion stems from the radio mast, which is above the fuselage when registered F-WFKV but below in this photo.. The SO-8000 had a protracted development with many problems and modifications. Moving the radio would have been a minor change. 02 flew first in April 1949, 01 in December. The project was cancelled soon after. Photo from: Civil Aviation Historical Society, Melbourne, Australia
