VH-BIF was flown to Archerfield airport in Brisbane in 1958 where an inspection revealed glued joints in the wing had deteriorated, It was then flown to Dundee Station near Charleville when it was parked among trees and left to the weather. In 1980 the remains were donated to the Queensland Air Museum and trucked to Brisbane, It was later moved to the museum at Caloundra. VH-ARD at Haifa after being delivered to the fledgling Israeli air force. It had been acquired in Italy on 28 May 1948, in exchange for DC-3 I-TROS which became VH-BNH. The DC-5 was being used for migrant charters when the exchange took place, and with the Israelis it was later used as a makeshift bomber. Photo by: -Lieutenant D.A.S. MacKay / Flight

Unsuccessful attempt to develop a naval fighter. This photo from Sud-Ouest is often claimed to be the first prototype but has the serial 02 on the fin. Confusion stems from the radio mast, which is above the fuselage when registered F-WFKV but below in this photo.. The SO-8000 had a protracted development with many problems and modifications. Moving the radio would have been a minor change. 02 flew first in April 1949, 01 in December. The project was cancelled soon after. Photo from: Civil Aviation Historical Society, Melbourne, Australia
