Delivered to the USAAF as 43-15731 in 1944. To Johnson Flying Service as NC24320 in 1946, N24320 after 1948. Force landed on ice on the Momongahela River, PA in 1954 and sank with nine fatalities. Salvaged and repaired. Used by other operators. To the Museum of Mountain Flying, Missoula, MT in 2001 and painted in its original Johnson Flying Service colours.

Entered service with the USAAF around 1943 as 43-15731. To Johnson Flying Service in 1946 as NC24320. The aircraft crashed on December 22, 1954 when it ran out of fuel on approach to Pittsburgh (KAGH). The aircraft was substiantally damaged and 10 people lost their lives in the event. Substantially damaged again at Memphis (KMEM) on December 15, 1994 when a Cessna 208 was unable to stop in time and collided with the DC-3. Again repaired and at the time of the photo it was owned and operated by the Museum of Mountain Flying.

Johnson Flying Service bought this C-47A from the USAAF (ex 43-15731) in 1946 and operated it out of their base at Missoula, MT until sold in 1977. In 2001 Stan Cohen's Museum of Mountain Flying, also based at Missoula, bought it from McNeely Charter Service, and it arrived back at Missoula on 17 Oct 2001 on delivery. Initially the museum restored the aircraft to static display condition and by 2008 it had been repainted it in these original Johnson colours. It was later restored to flying condition, and Miss Montana had its first post-restoration flight out of Missoula on 19 May 2019. Three weeks later it participated in the Berlin Airlift 70th Anniversary in the UK, France and Germany as seen here, in pristine condition.
