Here are the two Air Faisal Britannias, both with their distinctive ex-RAF cheatlines, although Lima Zulu's has been changed to green. Originally XM490 in 1960, she was bought in 11.75 by this rather shadowy operator, sister-ship G-BEMZ (ex XL660) following in 2.77. Broken up at Luton 9.79

In my distant recollection, the sound of this awesome turboprop lifter was as distinctive and inspiring as that of the mighty Antonov 22. Blue skies and winter light made MEA's bright red scheme look superb. Beginning life with AA as N7548A in 6.61, this 720 ended it when destroyed by shelling at Beirut on 21.8.85, having joined MEA in 10.70

This 707F joined BOAC's freighter fleet new from the Seattle line in 12.65 and was sold by BA in late 1983, next year becoming XT-ABX with the gloriously-named Naganagani of Upper Volta, which became Burkina Faso that same year. Omega Air bought her in 8.94 and soon after she joined Brasair, being registered PP-BRB in 1995. Brasair changed their name to Beta Cargo in 1996, the aircraft finally being parted out by the Brazilian AF as a source of KC-137 spares at Rio de Janeiro-Galeão

Portuguese Naval Aviation was one of the first forces in the world to have the G-44 at its disposal, putting them into service from Lisbon, Aveiro and the Azores in 1942 with serials between 119 and 130. They were used for liaison, reconnaissance, navigation and photogrammetry training. With the end of Naval Aviation in 1952 the Widgeons went to the Air Force until retirement in 1968. This one, named 'Moçambique' with the Hydrographic Mission there, became CS-AHF before preservation

This Dakota was rarely seen or photographed as it was tucked away inside the barracks on the far side of the field at Gatow. Originally delivered to the RAAF in Feb 1945 and flown over 11 days to Berlin to commemorate the Australian contribution to the Berlin airlift, arriving on 18 Jun 1980. Given the RAF serial ZD215 on arrival at Gütersloh after ferry flight from RAAF Butterworth (Malaysia) as until 1989 only British, French and American aircraft were guaranteed safe passage through the Berlin air corridor
