In the dump area at Stansted, partway through a service and minus outer wings and rudder. Arrived circa November 1973 and was back in service by April 1974. Later N80FA and N103. Written off in Alaska 28th June 1997.

This is former USAF VC-47A 42-93704. It later went to the RoKAF as an EC-47Q. Air History has a picture of this aircraft in USAF colours visiting Berlin in 1965.

Built as a Douglas A-26B (s/n 44-34119), this aircraft was rebuilt in 1964 as an On Mark B-26K Counter Invader with a new s/n 64-17651. It flew with 609 SOS/56 SOW from Nakhon Phanom in Thailand until the 609th was disbanded in November 1969. The aircraft was sent to MASDC where it remained until it was donated to South Korea as an exhibit in 1973.

Only a dozen Globemasters have survived worldwide, so it was nice to see this one in immaculate condition in the KAI Aerospace museum.

I flew to Shannon for the day from East Midlands on an Air Bridge Argosy to get the following shots on a lovely sunny day. Owned by John Woods Inc. Stored at Shannon for several years. Delivered new to the Royal Canadian Air Force as 5327 on 29 Jun 1964. To the Tanzania Air Force as JW9005 on 15 Jun 1971. To N10169 in Mar 1979. to 5H-MRQ by May 1980 and N3760D in Mar 1981. Scrapped at Shannon early 1990.

Seen on a cold winters day at EMA. Built for a USAAF contract and as 44-76853 on 01 May 1945. To the RAF as KN566 on 05 May 1945. To the UK civil register on 25 Feb 1952 as a DC-3C with JA Wilson as G-AMPO. To Starways on 03 Feb 1953. To Eagle Aircraft Services 10 May 1954. To First Air Trading Co 29 Oct 54. Back to Starways 16Oct56. To British Westpoint Airlines Jan64. To Norway as LN-RTO with Polaris A.T. on 29Dec 1964. Back to G-AMPO with Field A.S. on 17 Jun 1969. Then with various UK operators including Air Atlantique and Air Luton. WFU at CVT Jan 1998. On display at Brize Norton in 2023.

Later converted to C-123K and loaned to the South Vietnam AF, then returned to USAF. I don't have a shot of the NACA B-29 45-21800 in the background, but sure wish I did. It was used as the mothership for the Bell X-1A/B trials.

With a nice assortment of ground equipment at its Luton base. WFU a few weeks later in April 1974 and scrapped at Luton in August of that year.

This aircraft is in a hybrid scheme with the black lower fuselage and engines from its time with Euroair. Delivered new to BEA - British European Airways as G-AOHT on 03 Jul 1957. Merged into British Airways 01 Apr 1974. To British Air Ferries 17 Jul 1981. Various leases while owned by BAF to Bouraq Indonesian, Polar Airways, Euroair and Virgin Atlantic. WFU and stored at Southend SEN Jul 1987. Broken up Mar 1991.

Operated by Instone Air Line and flying for Air Atlantique / Atlantic Air Transport. Delivered to the Royal New Zealand Air Force as NZ5912 on 17 Mar 1955. Leased to Straights Air Freight Express as ZK-BVI Dec 1957 to Mar 1958 then returned to the RNZAF. Bought by Dwen Airmotive Aug 1978 as ZK-EPH. Sold to Instone Airlines as G-BISU 06 May 1981. To Trans Provincial Airlines of Canada as C-FDFC 20 Dec 1988. Bought by John Duncan and Partners Jul 1994. Damaged beyond repair on take of from Enstone in Oxfordshire on 18 Jul 1996.
