Pictured when it was flying freight for Soundair, this Howard 500 was originally built as Lockheed Ventura Bu 34903. It was allocated to the Royal Air Force but instead diverted to the South African Air Force as 6488. Stored after a crash for some time, it was sold to Howard Aero in 1959. Re-built and operated civilly, the aircraft was converted to a Howard 500 in 1964. Only with Soundair for a year, the last owner was the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, TX. It was substantially damaged during Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

This former BOAC VC10 (G-ARVG) started airline service in June 1964 after six months of crew training as the type was introduced. After BOAC merged with British European Airways to form British Airways, this aircraft was leased, then sold to Gulf Air (A4O-VG) in June 1974. Retired in 1977, it was among nine airline VC 10s the RAF bought in 1978 for tanker conversion. ZA141 was the first tanker to fly in June 1982 and is pictured after recent painting in the new Hemp color scheme - what a sight and what a sound. Retired in 1999, it was scrapped at St. Athan in 2001.

Skycraft began as a DC-3 freighter operator carrying car parts. Branching out into flight training, charter and scheduled passenger flights in the late 80s saw this Bandeirante join the fleet in 1985. Economic pressures forced the airline seek court protection in 1992, but the it halted operations in 1994. This former DC-8-61 was delivered to United in May 1968. It's pictured shortly after a conversion to a CFM-56 powered DC-8-71 in July 1982. That and a later freighter conversion extended it's operational life to 2012 when it was retired by Air Transport International (N830BX) and stored at Mojave, CA. The aircraft was sold to GRG Aircraft Sales & Leasing in 2014 and reportedly scrapped.
