A turbine powered Otter had a long gestation. DHC considered it after the P & W Canada PT-6 engine was developed in the '60s (too expensive and the DHC-6 Twin Otter was preferred). Western Rotorcraft in Seattle, WA mounted a Garrett TPE311 to N3904, but the improvement was unremarkable and the piston engine was re-installed. Ray Cox engineered his conversion in 1973 and tested C-FMES-X / N4247A into the '80s. An unfortunate forced landing on December 19, 1984 damaged the prototype and funds ran out before the program could continue with only one aircraft converted.

This early Dash 7 was delivered to Wardair in August 1978. When the airline shut down their Yellowknife northern operations to concentrate on international jet charters, the aircraft was sold to Air Pacific based in Oakland, CA. After Air Pacific / Golden Gate closed their doors, the airliner was leased by several airlines over the years, including Time Air from February 1987 to May 1990. Further leases kept it busy until it was dismantled after 2002 and the registration (N677MA at the time) was cancelled.

Delivered to New York Airways in 1963, this Vertol was bought by Columbia in 1972. Pictured working for forest company Whonnock Industries (later International Forest Products / Interfor) with the Whonnock "W" on the tail. The two companies would set up Helifor to log in Canada. The helicopter tragically crashed October 14, 1982 during a log slinging operation in Idaho. A synchronization shaft failed and the two rotors came into contact.
