Airshow pilot Sean D. Tucker founded the School of Aerobatic Flight based at Salinas, CA in 1997. After moving to King City in 2001, the school partnered with watchmaker Tutimua and re-named the school Tutima Academy of Aviation Safety in 2006. Along with a Pitts S-2B, an Extra 300L and a T-6, this Aviat Aviation built Pitts S-2C is available for aerobatic and upset training for new pilots to those seeking to go into competition aerobatics.

Wilbur-Ellis was formed in 1921 as a small import-export brokerage trading company. In the 1960s they made acquisitions of companies in the Pacific Northwest, California and Texas specializing in fertilizer and crop protection. In 2010 Soilserv Inc of Salinas, CA, with a substantial fleet of Bell-47 sprayers including this 1970 Bell 47-G5, was another of these companies acquired.
