Later converted to CH-47D and registered A15-103.

This Chinook could be one of the helicopters that remained blocked in the Agusta plant after the sanctions and embargo declared against Iran, following the events of the 1980-1981 in Teheran. Before the 1979 revolution Iran had ordered 50 Chinooks to the Italian industry. The new government confirmed only 34 helicopters but approximately 9 remained parked at the plant after completion.

In 1987 the Italian Army financed a capability upgrade by the installation of more powerful Lycoming T55-L-721E, new transmissions and synchro shafts, composite blades and other features, that took the MTOW from the 46000 lbs of the C model to the 50000 lbs of the D model. But the upgrade was not acknowldged by Boeing as a new model, and the painting on the fuselages remained CH-47C. The "C+" was possibly used on documents, to identify the upgraded helicopters. The photographed one could be the first upgraded machine, since it bears the new capability weight painted on its side.

This is a Chinook of the Italian Army, being displayed at the static line without any serial and markings, other than the national roundels. Possibly just after the completion of a major overhaul, because of the new paint finishing, but before applying "ESERCITO", the serial and the "E.I.-" individual code. The Vergiate air show of the that years often displayed aircraft or helicopters that were not identifiable or a nightmare to be identified. Any information about its serial will be welcome.

This Chinook is the last of the first batch of 26 helicopters procured and delivered starting from 1973 up to 1978.

This old servant was accepted by the US Army on 29 August 1969. It is seen here serving the 205th Aviation (Assault Support Helicopter) Company "Geronimos", based at Mainz Finthen (Germany) at the static of Kiel. The Chinook was converted to MH-47E with serial 91-00499 and accepted with the 160th SOAR on 17 May 1994. Then again modified, this time to MH-47G with serial 09-03783 and accepted on 30 January 2010.

This was a CH-47A converted in 1969 to the BV-347 prototype as an entry for the Heavy Lift Helicopter (HLH) requirement, first flying at Vertol's test facility at Eddystone, PA in May 1970. Phase I changes included upgrades to CH-47C standards, four blade rotors, fuselage stretch, Phase II adding variable incidence wings for extra lift. Hydro-mechanical rotor controls were later replaced with a fly-by-wire system integrating wing and rotor controls automatically. Although successful the Army could not feasibly modify its entire Chinook fleet, but some improvements carried over to the CH-47D

Delivered to the US Army as CH-47C 70-15026 in 1971. Rebuilt as CH-47D 91-0252 c/n M3401. To the Greek Army as ES-922 in 2016.

Delivered to the US Army as CH-47C 67-18495 in 1968. Rebuilt as CH-47D 91-0247 c/n M3396. Last noted in the scrap compound at Middleton-Summit, DE in 2017.

Delivered to the US Army as CH-47A 63-7921 in 1964. Rebuilt as CH-47D 87-0116 c/n M3235. Last noted in the scrap compound at Middleton-Summit, DE in 2017.

Stored on the undulating apron of Colmenar Viejo, this is one of the recently retired CH-47Ds of the Spanish Army, most of which were found in storage at the time. The type has been replaced by the CH-47F.

One of three Chinooks received by the Argentine Air Force in January 1980. One (H-92) was written off in January 1982 and both of the survivors are now in the care of the museum at Moron. H-91 is now restored and on display in Antarctic colours while H-93 remains under restoration and will ultimately be displayed in the green/brown camouflage worn during the early 1980s.
