From mining around Saskatchewan in 1950 to a long list of airlines in Western Canada from British Columbia to the Yukon and North West Territories, this Beaver has a history too long for the space available here. Pictured with Staron Flight in Vancouver (1981 - 85), the aircraft is flying with Alpine Aviation (Yukon) at the time of uploading.

Two passenger carrying CL-215s were built for CVG Ferrominera Orinoco, a state owned company engaged in exploration and the mining of iron ore in Venezuela. Used to transport miners around their Oricoco River sites, this aircraft crashed on August 22, 1989 (then registered YV-O-INC-2) during a training flight. The accident happened shortly after take off from Puerto Ordaz airport due to unknown circumstances. Sistership YV-O-INC1 was later transferred to the government and stored.

Photo taken between the opening of Hangar 9 Kingsford Smith and when PH-TDO was reregistered PH-LDO. Australian Charles Kingsford Smith famously was the first to fly the Pacific Ocean in Fokker F.VII/3m Southern Cross in 1927. PH-LDO was eventually cocooned and broken up at Schiphol. The "train" in the foreground provided tours of the airport. Photo from: National Library of Australia

This BP photo is believed to be the Great Moscow Circus arriving at Perth for the start of a highly successful tour of Australia. CCCP-75439 was a new aircraft registered in April 1967. Photo date given is 1967. First performance of the tour was in Perth in January 1968 and performers would have needed to acclimatise after leaving Russia in winter for an Australian summer. December 1967 arrival have allowed time for that . CCCP-74539 withdrawn from use in November 1983. Photo from: State Library of Western Australia
