NC18945 is ready for boarding at gate 2. N18945 to Continental Air Lines in the 1950s. On 29 August 1955 it collided with a Piper Tri-Pacer, N3334B, while landing in Hobbs, New Mexico. The DC-3 landed safely and was repaired. Noted in Continental service at Dallas in 1962, when they still flew to some 'rural' destinations. Subsequent history of N18945 unclear but Continental subsidiary CASI operated DC-3s in SE Asia. Reg cancelled in 2013. Photo from: SFO Museum

Former US Army Air Force 42-68775. Converted to DC-3A for Pan American on August 1949 as NC49549 then to Whitbeck Aircraft with same registration. Delivered to Chilean Air Force as 955 on February 1953. Dumped in Las Condes in 1977, and now forms part of the Club Palestino in Santiago de Chile. It has been converted to be a playhouse for club members.

Fitted with skis for flightseeing trips from Talkeetna to Denali. Damaged in an accident the previous year, in June 2002. After an uneventful landing on the Tokositna Glacier, 30 miles to the northwest, and while repositioning up the glacier to disembark passengers, the tail wheel caught in a hole in hard-packed snow and the left elevator dug in. Repaired and recovered. Later more substantially damaged in July 2014 when fitted with a bulk fuel tank to supply remote communities. Overran a wet and muddy short grass strip while departing, the pilot unknowingly still carrying the full load of fuel

Doing over shoots on runway 22. Based at Bedford - Thurleigh. Delivered new to Ghana Airways on 03 Oct 1961 as 9G-AAV. Sold to the Royal Radar & Signals Establishment (RRE) later to become part of the RAE as XT661 on 22 Feb 1965 and fitted with various belly pods for electronic trials work. Last flight Feb 1989. total time logged 6,346 hours and 45 mins. Broken up in July 93.

Aircraft wears Eastern Air Lines livery but did not fly for EAL and was really owned by the Major League baseball team. The Dodgers used a DC-3 earlier. In 1959 the team shocked New York by becoming the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ties with Eastern Air Lines were not immediately broken, judging by Peter Gates' 1959 picture of N1R. A number of aircraft are preserved at Camp Santiago, Salinas, Puerto Rico, the largest being C-7A 63-9747 with Puerto Rico National Guard markings.

Photographed lining up on Runway 28R, (as it then was), at London Heathrow in August 1981. It made its last ever Heathrow visit the following month and was sold to TAL Trans Air Link as N867TA, passing in 1986 to the iconic DC-6 operator Northern Air Cargo Inc. of Anchorage, AK. Sadly it was written off in a landing accident at Deadhorse-Alpine Airstrip, AK., in September 2001.

Early January 2010, Haiti was struck by a massive earthquake. As the airport of its capital Port-au-Prince had only limited capacity to receive large aircraft, Dutch aid was flown to Curacao and reloaded onto Florida Air Transport's C-54G N406WA, which brought it to Port-au-Prince.
