Tu154 taking off from Istanbul Ataturk Airport, showing the way the main gear gets retracted into the wing. Very different from how western jets do this. Also the angle shows how difficult it was to gain height on this hot summer day.
Air Atlantique painted their airworthy DC-6 G-APSA in full KLM colours. This was done in the summer of 2007 at the KLM maitnenance facility in Amsterdam. This was done especially for the film "Bride Flight". In September of that year a large Propliner airshow was organized at Hamburg Internation Airport. The airlines DC-3 G-AMPY and DC-6 G-APSA arrived around the same time in Northern Germany, allowing this Air-to-Air shot over the streets of Hamburg.
Slowly raising the nose after the steep descent between the mountains surrounding Luang Prabang. The ATR is passing the impressing temples of the city. Photo is taken from the That Chomsi on top of the Phu-Si hill in the centre of town.
Two Y12 aircraft were donated by China to the Colombian Government. in 2014 they were assigned to Satena, the passenger airline run by the Air Force, to keep connections to remote locations in the country. For several years the two were based at Medellin Olaya Herrera, flying to destinations in Northern Antioquia and Choco provinces. It is unbelievable that after only 5 years the airplanes reached their max lifetime hours or cycles and were withdrawn from use.
A trip to Tanzania, to fly the Indigo Aviation DC-3. But they never really started operating their two DC-3s between Zanzibar and the mainland. I was only able to make some distant photos of the two aircraft. This one was taken from a Cessna 208 taking off from Zanzibar en route to Dar es Salaam. The airplane was not visible from the terminal, but was parked infront of a hangar along the main runway of the airport.
