42-29782 had already been a war monument for several years when Max and John Biegert made it airworthy again as a heavy agricultural spraying aircraft, installing seven chemical tanks in the fuselage and two F-94 Starfire tip tanks underwing. It became a fire bomber in May 1960, perhaps after this accident, and starred in several war movies. It is now at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. Photo by: Jack Lindsay / City of Vancouver Archives

Believed to have been taken at Middle Wallop (or possibly Rearsby) circa 1960. This Auster AOP.6 was converted to T.10 status at Rearsby in March 1960 and returned to the Army Air Corps. It was then sold to Beagle-Auster in 1962 for conversion to A61 Terrier 2 status as SE-ELL with new c/n 3740. It was subsequently allocated LN-BNH (ntu), LN-MAU and LN-MAE.

At the time of the photo, N62086 was waiting to depart on a flight to the Bay Area. Blatz had in 1959 been awarded a two-year approval to operate irregular air services in California and Nevada. This aircraft was later purchased by Blatz by which time it had returned to being a charter operator, notably for Hollywood studios. N62086 was scrapped in the late 1980s.
