VH-EBE was used to carry cattle from Pakistan to Papua New Guinea, then under Australian rule, for a program to develop a better breed for hot tropical climates. The cattle were not allowed into Australia for biosecurity reasons. Biosecurity also meant the cattle had to be kept on the aircraft from Karachi to Port Moresby. While the location of the photo is not given, the airport is not Port Moresby so must be Karachi Photo from: National Library of Australia

One of two aircraft built for oil magnate SEJ Cox to compete in the 1920 Gordon Bennett air race at Etampes in France. Handling problems and poor takeoff performance led to a rushed conversion to a biplane. Texas Wildcat was written off when it flipped on landing at Etampes at the end of its short flight from the Morane factory where the conversion had been done. The other aircraft, named Cactus Kitten, shipped back the US without being uncrated. It was converted to a triplane and came second in the 1921 Pulitzer Trophy Race. Photo from: Library of Congress
