Following the death in Jan 2013 of the museum's owner Peter Vallance, some exhibits went to other museums and collections. By Jun 2013 this Whirlwind was no longer part of the museum's inventory, but its fate is unclear.
Thirty years ago this was a standard colour scheme for a large part of the Royal Air Force fleet of Hawk, these day's its called a retro colour scheme. This Hawk was delivered in 1979 as T1, it was converted to T1A and later to T1W. The aircraft is stored at Shawbury since 2013.
This aircraft was USAF 45-49192 and later went to Peru as 545, later 119. It became N47DD but crashed on 9th February, 1980. Parts of it were then used for a new N47DD, but the remains were restored as a static display aircraft "226413".
