A VA-93 A-7A over the South China Sea. I took this slide from another VA-93 A-7A. Note the speed brake under the fuselage is not completely flush, which is not normal. VA-93 was conducting operations from USS Midway (CV-41) during this period. 153140 was assigned to VA-93 from 1973 through 24 April 1977. Retired to MASDC on 27 May 1977. One of six HFB-320 Hansa Jets, which were operated by the Flugbereitschaft / Luftwaffe out of Cologne/Bonn airport. 16+02 had its first flight on 23/JUN/69 and still wears the older high visibility colours in this photo. In 1988, all six VIP-Hansa Jets were removed from military service; this one here saw further use in Turkey and finally as a freighter in the US. Last reported in derelict condition as N106TF at Louisville KY in 2013.
