The SAAF's only Viscount was operated by 21 Sqd. It is here seen at AFB Swartkop in 1970. It carried the civilian registration ZS-LPR from August 1984. Sold to Field Aviation in November 1991 who sold it on to Air Charter Service as 9Q-CWL the following month. Leased to Filair from January 1992 to January 1996 when sold to Bazair. Written off near Irumu, DRC 6 June 1997 following an inflight fire. Photographer unknown

This 1957 Piper Apache was first with Central Maine Flying Service as N3195P. Imported into Canada in 1963 as CF-PLN, the aircraft is currently privately owned as C-FPLN at the time of uploading.

Lovely scene at Gatwick from the old roof terraces, including an Austrian Caravelle and BUA VC10. OY-STI joined Sterling new in May 1969 and on 15th January 1992 flew their last Caravelle commercial flight CPH-LUX-CPH. Leased to Air Toulouse International as F-GHKN in February 1992, it returned in September for storage at Kastrup. In August 1993 it was sold to SEC Colombia as HK-3855X but was written off on 15th March 1994 on take-off from Bogotá carrying explosives when a tyre burst. It returned after burning off fuel but overran the runway, the pilot retracting the landing gear to halt it.

On 17 August 1978 she crashed at Lydd Airport, Kent, when aircraft ran to the the left of the runway during it's take-off roll, pilot tried to correct but crashed onto the intersecting runway and the Dakota burnt out (photographer not known)

The RCAF's first Starfighter began as Lockheed built F-104A 56-779. It was later converted to YF-104G configuration with updated avionics. Taken on strength in March 1961 while still at Lockheed and officially delivered June 27, 1963 retaining F-104A structure. The sleek fighter would set a Canadian altitude record of 100,110 ft on December 14, 1967. The aircraft was later transferred to the National Aeronautical Collection in Ottawa.

Operated by the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario. In 1974 the company became a crown corporation and was officially named Ontario Hydro (which had been the commission's nickname).

from my collection, photographer unknown, built in 1944 the Skymaster was in service for the US Army Air Forces and the US Navy before civil operations started in May 1947 for Colonial Airlines as N93267, merged into Eastern Airlines in 1956, but sold on to PSA and in operation for them until April 1962 when it was purchased by Mercer Enterprises. To Canadian Arctic Co.-Op. in Dec 1969 and operated furtheron for Air Commonwealth as CF-QIX, later C-FQIX, damaged and w/o after a take-off accident at Thompson, Manitoba in June 1979, whilst operating for Aero Trades Western. Location is a guess.
