Operated by the GRUPAER unit of the Italian Navy, it was initially registered with Bu.No 164136. Delivered by transfer on-board Nave Garibaldi, arrived in Taranto Grottaglie on 24 september 1991 together with MM55033/T020/1-02

This is the first of 13 Harrier II+ that were supplied to the Italian Navy by MDD via an FMS contract and assembled at the Torino Caselle plant. To become MM7212 and to be assigned 1-06 as individual code, for the GRUPAER unit. Because of the contractual and supply agreements they were initially registered with the US Navy Bu.No. and tested by US pilots. The preceding three single seat aircrafts were assembled by MDD in Saint Louis (Missouri) and formally delivered in 1994, but remained based at Cherry Point until the next december, when they were transferred to Italy on-board Nave Garibaldi.

FMS BuNo 165009 and assembled by Alenia. The Harrier is furnished with eleven mission marks underneath the cockpit.

Built by McDonnell Douglas as a Block 17 dual seater with FMS BuNo 164136. The was delivered 7 Jun'91. The official delivery ceremony was held on 23 Aug'91, when the MM55032 (and MM55033) landed on the flightdeck of the carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi, anchored off Norfolk (VA). Flow by 1°Gruppo Aerei Imbarcati (created in Feb'91 at MCAS Cherry Point (NC), where the first pilots and technicans of the Italian Marina completed their training prior the delivery of theirs first Harriers. Great to see the family model in the evening of its service life during a visit to the TLP.

Not all Italian AV-8Bs were assembled with Alenia, this FMS BuNo 164565 was built by McDonnell Douglas as a Block 19 aircraft and was one of three that acted as a training aircraft at MCAS Cherry Piont (NC) from April 1994. The aircraft was delivered to Italy a few months later, on 10 June 1994.

This Harrier II carries FMS BuNo 165017 and was built by Alenia. It was delivered to the Marina on 15 July 1997. The Wolves jump jet made a fine sharp turn towards runway 27 of Los Llanos air base.

Delived to the Royal Navy on 1oct'96 and stored from Mar'05 at Yeovilton, became an instructional airframe at Culdrose in Feb'06 up to Oct'23. Stored with Horizon Aircraft Services at St. Athan since October 2023. The F/A2 was one of four Sea Harriers present at the AirPower 2003 show.

Painted in in a retro gloss camouflage scheme as worn by the Harrier GR1 when the type entered RAF service. ZG506 was marked to commemorate the 41 years of service of the Harrier in its varied guises. Pictured on the Cottesmore flight line on the morning of the 15th December 2010 when it appeared that the weather would deny the final commemorative flypast across the UK. Fortunately the weather cleared sufficiently to allow a formation of 16 Harriers to get airborne later that day.
