The one and only Hudstar prior to is first flight. It was a Hudson fitted with the rear fuselage of a Lodestar. FAA records show N367 was sold in Argentina in 1966 (as LV-ITE) and crashed there in 1977. Several sources claim the Hudstar , registered N367F, crashed at Oshawa airport, Canada, in July 1977. Contemporary newspaper reports of this accident said the aircraft involved was a "twin-engine Beechcraft". Peter Keating photo

Crashed on take-off at Lae, Papua New Guinea, on April 18, 1948. All 37 on board were killed comprising two crew, two passengers of European background and 33 native Papua New Guineans. At the time, native passengers were treated as cargo, with weight and not numbers the limit. They were not provided with seat belts and on the fateful flight, neither were the European passengers. The accident, which is at the time of upload the worst for an aircraft registered in Australia, resulted seat belts becoming mandatory for all passengers regardless of race.

This Hudson stood as a memorial from 1967 to 1989 to the North Atlantic aircraft ferry pilots during World War II. The original T9422, flown by famed RAF pilot/navigator Don Bennett, led the first formation of aircraft to be delivered to the UK by air. It was later lost in an accident in Wales. Deterioration due to weather and vandalism saw the memorial aircraft moved to the North Atlantic Aviation Museum in Gander.

Built in September 1942 at the Lockheed facility in Burbank, California. Retired from RCAF service in November 1947, it was subsequently purchased by the owner of a scrap metal company in Berwick, Nova Scotia. It remained in scrapyards until the late 1980s. In the meantime, many of the aircraft's parts and components were sold for scrap or for other purposes. The remains of the aircraft were subsequently acquired by the Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum and transferred to the NAFMC for restoration in 2010. Its current state is shown in the photo.

Combat veteran on display at RAF Museum Hendon. Intended for the RAF as FH174, this aircraft was diverted to No. 13 Sqn. RAAF in 1942. On 3 Feb 1943 it shot down a F1M2 floatplane. It then joined No. 2 Sqn. RAAF in April 1943 and shot down a Ki-21 over New Guinea in May. In 1947 the Hudson was sold to a flying school, after which it undertook aerial survey work. In 1973 it was flown to Scotland that included two stops in India and finally was sold to the RAF Museum in 1981.

When East West ceased using VH-EWE on airline services, it was reregistered VH-BPT in June 1956 to free EWE for a DC-3. BPT was converted to a freighter and then a rain-maker. Two years later is was back in the EW block as VH-EWR but still used for rain-making. It was sold in 1962 to Adastra as VH-AGE for aerial survey work. AGE was destroyed in a crash at Tennant Creek on September 24, 1966. Photo from: Civil Aviation Historical Society, Melbourne, Australia
