Only extant Ki-61-II Kai on display at the Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots in Chiran. This Hien (Flying Swallow) originally had a bare metal finish during the war, along with a red '17' on the tail. Surviving post-war destruction by being retained as a USAF trophy, it was repainted in different schemes. The final paint job represents a Hien from 244th Hikō Sentai, which was the most famous IJAAF home defence unit based at Chōfu airfield under Maj. Teruhiko Kobayashi that shot down several B-29s.

On display on the flight deck of museum ship CVS-11 USS Intrepid. The AV-8C was an interim measure to bridge the gap between the AV-8A and the completely new AV-8B. The aircraft was an upgrade of 47 AV-8As under the conversion-in-lieu-of-procurement (CILOP) programme. The strake under the fuselage and RWRs on the wings of this AV-8C are visible. The aircraft is painted in the markings of VMA-231 "Ace of Spades" to represent an AV-8A, which the unit flew for the last time on 2 Aug 1985 before transitioning to the AV-8B Harrier II on 19 Sep 1985. The unit did not fly the AV-8C.

On display at Pima Air & Space Museum. The PBM Mariner was designed by the Glenn Martin Company to challenge the PBY Catalina. It was superior to the PBY, though it served in smaller numbers in WW2. The gull wing PBM-3C was powered by two 1,700 hp Wright R-2600-12 Twin Cyclone engines, which were upgraded to the "C" Series 2,100 hp P&W R-2800-34 radials on the PBM-5A amphibian with a retractable tricycle undercarriage. The PBM-5A was the final Mariner variant flown by the USN and USCG in the SAR role. This is the only surviving Mariner in the markings of VR-21 based at NAS Barbers Point.

On display at Pima Air & Space Museum. The Owl was the last heavy observation aircraft built for the USAAF. Powered by a 600-hp P&W R-1340-51 Wasp radial engine, the Army Air Force determined by 1941 that the Owl was no match for modern combat conditions. The 203 Owls built were used as trainers and for coastal patrol duties. Owls were shipped to the USSR, which used ten of the type for artillery spotting during WW2. This aircraft served with the 22nd Observation Sqn at Brooks Field, TX between 1941-43. The 0.30 in. gun port can be seen on the cowling behind the propeller.

Suspended in the NASM Golden Age of Flight Hall. Built in 1927, this Mailwing was the prototype for Pitcairn mail planes that led to the creation of Eastern Air Lines. First use of the type as a mail plane was by Texas Air Transport on Contract Air Mail Route 21. The PA-5 was successful on the CAM 19 New York-Atlanta route, flying mail by night in seven hours, one-third the time it took by train. Eastern Air Lines used this aircraft till 1934. It was sold and converted to carry passengers, being repurchased and restored as a gift for Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker till donated in 1957 to NASM.

On display at RAFM Cosford. The Jetstream was powered by a pair of 921 hp Turbomeca Astazou XVI C2 turboprops. Inducted into the RAF on 12 Sep 1973, the T.1 served as a multi-engine trainer with the Central Flying School. This is one of 26 T.1s that was on RAF strength. It has the emblem of No. 45 (R) Sqn "Flying Camels" on the fuselage, which flew the type as a Multi-Engined Training Squadron (METS) from 1992 under No. 3 FTS at RAF Cranwell. The T.1 was retired from RAF service on 19 Mar 2004. This aircraft made its final flight to the museum on 22 Mar 2004.

Restored wooden fuselage on display at RAFM Hendon. The five-crew Southampton proved to be a reliable flying boat that could operate in bad weather. It first flew on 10 Mar 1925 and was inducted in the RAF in Aug 1925, equipping No. 480 (Coastal Reconnaissance) Flight. The wooden hull Mk. 1 was powered by two 470-hp Napier Lion V engines. The Mk.I developed into the Duralumin hull Mk.II. In addition to bombs, three .303 Lewis guns were mounted on Scarff rings in the nose and midships. The most notable long-distance flight was from the UK to Australia via India and Singapore in 1927-28.

On display since 1978 at RAF Museum Hendon in the markings of I./JG 51. This Emil was built in Sep 1940 at Erla Maschinenwerk in Leipzig. The E-4 had 20 mm MG FFs mounted as standard in the wings to replace the engine-mounted 20 mm cannon. This E-4/B was field-modified with an ETC ventral fuselage rack to serve as a Jabo that could carry one SC 250 bomb. It was bounced by Spitfires from No. 66 Sqn. on 27 Nov 1940, forcing Lt. Wolfgang Teumer of 2./JG 51 to make a wheels-up landing at RAF Manston. The captured Emil was repaired and used for demonstration flights at RAF units.

On display at the Museum of Flight. Nieuport had reached the design limit of the Nieuport 17, doing away with the V-strut sesquiplane design for the Type 28 which had wings of almost equal proportion braced by parallel struts. It was powered by a Gnome 9N rotary engine. Around 300 Nieuport 28s were built, mainly used by the U.S. Army Air Service due to their availability. This aircraft is displayed in the markings of Lt. Quentin Roosevelt of the 95th Aero Squadron with its "Kicking Mule" emblem on the fuselage. Pres. Roosevelt's son was killed on 14 Jul 1918 in aerial combat over France.

Inside the hangar at Fantasy of Flight. The parasol wing MoS-29 was powered by a 160 hp Gnome Monosoupape 9N rotary engine. It was armed with a pair of Vickers 0.303 machine guns. The AI was inducted in Esc. MS.156 and MS.161 of the Aéronautique Militaire in Feb 1918 and in MS.158 "Serpentaire", which flew the monoplane from Mar-Apr 1918. A few victories were scored against the Luftstreitkräfte, the type being withdrawn from operational service by mid-May 1918 in favor of the SPAD XIII. This AI was built in 1918 and acquired by Kermit Weeks in 1985 from the Tallmantz Aviation collection.
