The Domodedovo dump in 2013 was apparently a lot smaller than in previous years but still extremely interesting for me. No longer just Soviet types on there but also this rather sad Brasilia.

This Marines CH-53A 153292 is a Vietnam veteran that took part in Operation Meade River in 1968. It was subsequently retired to MASDC (inventory number 2J0041) before being TOC by the USAF as 67-30044, stripped down and used for training as a TH-53A. In July 1987 it was retired to MASDC for a second time (inventory number HC0022) but left the boneyard again for the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex, Robins AFB, GA to be used for aircraft battle damage repair training, before finally ending up at the super Russell Miliary Museum.

RA-85712 was just one of many tantalising glimpses from a whole variety of aircraft that were visible around the airfield (but of course, unfortunately, outside the permitted access area for the MAKS 2013 airshow).

This old 727 flew with American from 1981 until being retired in 1999. Pictured stored at Tucson International during September 2008.

EI-FWD is pictured as SN2064 accellerating down rw24 at Edinburgh for the return flight to Brussels. On this day 'WD flew BRU-VIE-BRU-EDI-BRU-CPH-BRU.

The Su-30SM is an advanced derivative of the Su-30MK series and considered to be a 4+ generation multirole jet fighter. This example was pictured taking part in the flying display at MAKS 2013.

Unfortunately, I couldn't wait any longer for a cleaner shot. This frame is actually an old friend to my camera as it served previously with Air Transat as C-GTSF.

The BTD-1 Destroyer had excellent performance and was intended as the successor to the Helldiver. However, the type arrived too late to see any action in WWII with '4959' being the only survivor of the 30 (26 BTD-1s) built. This aircraft had long been in the Florence Air & Missile Museum collection and then moved to the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center, Elmira-Corning Regional Airport, Elmira, New York. It is currently undergoing restoration at the Hixson Flight Museum in Rome, Georgia. Alas much to my great disappointment she still had her winter tarps on as my visit was so early in the season.

The T-50 is Sukhoi's internal name for the prototype, developmental and pre-production test aircraft of the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter. The aircraft is a single-seat, twin-engine, fighter designed for air superiority as well as ground attack and will be the first operational aircraft in Russian service to use stealth technology. The Su-57 is intended to succeed the MiG-29 and Su-27 in Russian Air Force service. This T-50 example was pictured as part of the flying display at MAKS 2013.

This ex-Northwest 747 N642NW is painted to resemble the prototype 747 N7470 and is on display at the super Museum of Aeronautical Sciences adjacent to Narita airport.

The Tu-95MS Bear-H version is the new cruise missile platform and was parked at Zhukovsky during MAKS 2013. This was just one of many tantalising glimpses from a whole variety of aircraft that were visible around the airfield (but of course, unfortunately, outside the permitted access area for the airshow).

During the summer of 2012 one of the engines of PH-DDZ failed and the aircraft was grounded. The financial burden was too great for the Dutch Dakota Association to restore airworthiness and, after almost four years of inactivity, the PH-DDZ was sold to the Aviodrome museum at Lelystad. This venerable old DC-3 is now stored in the restoration hangar.

ZB615 first flew in September 1982 and was the last British-built Jaguar. It is now one of the approximately 50 Defence School of Aeronautical Engineering instructional Jaguar airframes at RAF Cosford. Photographed during a very rare sun outbreak at the RAF Cosford Air Show 2017.

Needless to say that neither of these two aircraft are regular visitors to Sapporo. Rather they were visiting in connection with the G8 summit being held on Hokkaido.

This 762 was originally delivered to SAS as LN-RCC in May 1990. It flew with Transbrasil for about six years before going to Avianca and then Aeromexico. The frame was retired and ferried to VCV around Sept. 2015.

This beautiful three-holer operated its last revenue flight for KLM 30th July 2012, before being ferried to VCV for parting out and it has since been scrapped.

This P-3 was TOC by the USN with the BuNo. 148276. It was the third of three frames modified into a NP-3A for the US Naval Research Laboratory before being transferred to NASA as, firstly, N927NA and then N428NA. It was on display as an outside exhibit at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida although I believe it has now been scrapped..
