Ex-Trans Canada Airlines CF-TGE. It was put on display outside a CYYZ hotel from 1996 to 2002. Later restored as CF-TGE in all its glory and put on display at the Museum of Flight at Seattle. Taken by school friend Ray Waight when three of us "did" Brussels.

Breitling's L-1049F Super Constellation impressive start of the engines with lots of smoke

VH-EAD prior to receiving weather radar. A generation of spotters used the embankment behind the Connie as a vantage point. It had carried a railway freight line but by the time of the photo the line had been realigned to allow the airport to expand. The embankment is now gone but the realigned railway remains in use.

Shown just after retirement by CJS Air Cargo with their symbol on its fin. The last two letters of its previous N179AV registration are showing through on the rear fuselage.

The original VH-EAG and not the Super Constellation registered to HARS in 1994. The first VH-EAG was the last L1049 in the Qantas fleet (and the first too). Sold in April 1963 as N93166, it was flown to Burbank and parted out.

Probably a 1951 picture of apparently the first Super Constellation to enter service. It did not initially have turbo-compound engines. Withdrawn by Eastern in 1968 with 42,589 flying hours. Purchased by Aviation Corporation of America in Fort Lauderdale, but rarely flown. Scrapped at West Palm Beach, Florida, circa 1976.

Entered service with the USAF in February 1949 and was involved in the Berlin airlift. Converted from C-121A to VC-121A in 1950. Based at Paris-Orly between June 1951 and March 1952, used as personal aircraft by General Eisenhower (SHAPE commander). Transferred to 1254 ATW around 1960, back to Europe as VIP transport in 1962 and used by General Greunther of NATO. Transferred to 7101st Air Base Wing at Wiesbaden. Retired in January 1967 and Transferred to the Military Aircraft Storage and Disposal Center (MASDC) with inventory number CK036 in June 1967. Loaned to Pima in 1972, restored between March 1989 and August 1990. The aircraft is called 'Columbine', after the state flower of Colorado.

Converted to an L1049H with a rear freight door in 1960. Remained in service with Qantas until the end of the 1962 then sold in the US as N9714C.

The fuselage of the Super Constellation Flyers Connie is almost ready to be trucked to Bremgarten/Germany.

Delivered to KLM on 1 October, 1949. On March 10, 1954 it became PH-LDE. It served with KLM until 24 January 1963. It then became CX-BBN, and was scrapped at Montevideo in 1972. Photographer unknown.
