This is the penultimate Dash 7 built, delivered to London City Airways in 6.88 and sold by BMA to Berjaya Air as 9M-TAL in 11.95 - I got to shoot it again at Subang, KL in June 2002 a couple of days before the airport closed for scheduled traffic. Looks sharp here in the BMA colours of the time

I well remember looking at the patched-up bullet holes in TMA 707s during their frequent stopovers at LHR cargo in the 'Eighties. This 707 suffered much the same fate as MEA's 720 OD-AFL just uploaded. Like that 720, TMA's OD-AGN was acquired from American and also perished under Israeli shelling at Beirut, in this case on 16th June, 1982

First delivered to Sabena as a Convair 440 in 1956; bought by Frontier in 9.67 and placed in service following the turboprop conversion. After a period of storage, bought by Sierra Pacific in 3.88 and leased to Aspen 12.88. On 19.1.89 the no. 2 engine failed at FL200 outbound from DEN. No. 1 engine then also failed and the aircraft landed on a dirt road at Buena Vista, hitting a fence and a log pile causing the nosegear to collapse. No fatalities but dbr

Fred Olsen's Commandos were a regular part of the Southend scene in the Sixties but I was lucky to capture this one on what was probably my first ever roll of Kodachrome. This 1944-vintage example was bought by the Norwegian line as far back as 11.57; sold as XW-PHM in 6.71 and resident in SE Asia till broken up at Seletar in 1979 as N336CA

Delivered to BEA on 4.7.68 and wfu at LHR in 4.85, Fox Golf went on to be one of only two Tridents to wear the BA Landor scheme (both after withdrawal). Here looking superb in her newly-applied paintwork while in use as a ground ops trainer, she went on to become the BAA's fire practice frame in 1990, parked out by 09L at what became known as 'Trident Turn'. After 10 years, dismantled, forward fuselage used for various films and adopted by the Manchester Airport Fire Service with whom it remains
