Photo most probably taken on 22 October 1963 when the 727 visited AMS for the first time. KLM selected the smaller Douglas DC-9, which did not fly until 1965. The only Dutch airline ever to operate the 727 was Air Holland in the 1980s, and the type was never very common at AMS. Photo from: Amsterdam City Archives

The prototype of the Fokker F.II, German c/n 4056, Dutch c/n 1500. From 1920 it was used as a research aircraft by the Netherlands civil aviation authority, RSL, without a registration - they could get away with that! Only in 1931 it was registered PH-RSL. Registration cancelled in 1936. Aircraft was bought back by Fokker and painted as early KLM machine H-NABC. Photo taken at airshow at Schiphol in 1938. Aircraft destined for prospective aviation museum but lost during the war. The real H-NABC (c/n 4057) became O-BAIC / OO-AIC with Sabena. Photo from: Amsterdam City Archives

The Convair L-13 was originally a Stinson design. Two XL-13 prototypes were built at the Wayne, Michigan factory. First flight date seems to be forgotten. While procurement went down steeply in fiscal year 1945, some high serial numbers were issued. Photo from: Nederlands Instituut voor Militaire Historie

The Netherlands navy and the Netherlands East Indies air force received two Pander Ds each, although these small single-seaters were of little military value. These military Panders were fitted with a protective structure behind the pilot's seat. The navy's Fokker D.VII fighters similarly received protective headrests, but D-26 and D-27 do not yet have them here. Photo from: Nederlands Instituut voor Militaire Historie

Rudolf Lochner demonstrated the Jungmeister to the Netherlands army air force at Soesterberg. The previous days he had won an aerobatic contest at the Pentecost airshow at Eelde. Later in 1937, Otto von Hagenburg crashed D-EEHO at the Cleveland Air Races when he tried to emulate the low inverted pass flown by Alex Papană in his Jungmeister YR-PAX. Little is known about the early history of this aircraft, supplied to the Khmer Republic around 1974, possibly as an AC-47. When Cambodia fell to the Khmer Rouge in April 1975, some eight (A)C-47s escaped to Thailand and 43-49213 was soon being worked on by the Thai Airways maintenance department. Withdrawn by the Thai navy in May 1986. Photograph assumed taken in 1997. Later photos show the Gooney Bird at a beach guesthouse close to the Rwy 36 threshhold of U-Tapao, and it looks as if it may be serving as a room. Finland has summers! The Finnish State Aircraft Factory built 21 Moths for the Finnish air force in 1929-30 with the old Cirrus engine. MO-103 was soon demobbed as K-SILD / OH-ILD. It ended up as far away as Australia as VH-SSC - see David Carter's 1979 photo. Photo from: Helsinki City Museum

The two-seat A.105 first prototype. By the time it appeared at the Paris Air Show in 1965, together with the four-seat A.105B, it had gained an upper tailfin. The military registration appears not to be worn, and the A.105A designation is unconfirmed. Photo from: Vertical Flight Society
