The Boeing NB trainer was at first too tame and impossible to spin, but after modifications its spin was almost irrecoverable. The problems were eventually overcome and some 72 aircraft were delivered to the US Navy. VN-D11 was the heavier-than-air training squadron of the Eleventh Naval District.
