On display at Deutsches Museum München. The F-13 was the world's first metal airliner, built using corrugated duralumin. On Armistice Day, Hugo Junkers ordered a switch from military to commercial aircraft. First flying on 26 June 1919, the F-13 carried four passengers in an enclosed cabin complete with cushioned seats, the first to provide passenger seatbelts, lighting and large windows. The original D-366, c/n 723 was named "Eismöwe" and operated by Deruluft. Due to its size and economy, many airlines started operations with the F-13, of which 322 were built.

Ex D-288, this F13 - not a Junkers-Larsen JL-6 - was used by Junkers' sales agency in the USA. In April 1928 it was active in the relief operation for the stranded W33 D-1167 Bremen. The co-pilot was Hugo Junkers' eldest daughter Hertha or Herta who ran the agency and was an aeronautical engineer. Her younger brother Erhard was also on board as a mechanic. In May, Hugo Junkers himself, visiting America, came to Ford in Dearborn with Herta and Erhard and the Bremen crew. NC87 to CF-AMX. Photo from: The Henry Ford

'B-LATB Fasan seized in Reval [Tallinn]'. We don't know why the constables took action. This F13 was operated by the Latvian airline Latvijas Gaisa Satiksmes, or Lettländische Luftverkehrs AG in German, on the Tallinn - Riga - Königsberg route. B-LATB crashed in October 1924 and was replaced by another B-LATB (c/n 570). This is assumed to be the first one because of the irregular application of the registration, with dots. The distinctive hangar belonged to the Estonian airline Aeronaut and confirms the location as then Lasnamäe airfield. Photo from: ETH-Bibliothek Zürich

The left half of the same original as photo 348021. This Danziger Luftpost aircraft does not yet carry its Danzig Free State registration Dz-35, but the German registration has been altered with a Z within the D. The coat of arms of Danzig (now Gdansk in Poland) contains two silver crosses above each other on a red shield, so the rudder is red. Photo taken at Königsberg, then in German East Prussia, now in the Russian Kaliningrad exclave. Photo from: ETH-Bibliothek Zürich
Registration / Serial:D-152
Alternate Registration:DZ-152
