Little is known about the early history of this aircraft, supplied to the Khmer Republic around 1974, possibly as an AC-47. When Cambodia fell to the Khmer Rouge in April 1975, some eight (A)C-47s escaped to Thailand and 43-49213 was soon being worked on by the Thai Airways maintenance department. Withdrawn by the Thai navy in May 1986. Photograph assumed taken in 1997. Later photos show the Gooney Bird at a beach guesthouse close to the Rwy 36 threshhold of U-Tapao, and it looks as if it may be serving as a room.
