Little is known about the early history of this Gooney Bird, supplied to the Khmer Republic around 1974, possibly as an AC-47. When Cambodia fell to the Khmer Rouge in April 1975, some eight (A)C-47s escaped to Thailand and 43-49213 was soon being worked on by Thai Airways Aircraft Maintenance. Withdrawn by the Thai navy in May 1986. Photograph assumed taken in 1997. Later photos show the aircraft at a beach guesthouse close to the Rwy 36 threshhold of U-Tapao and it looks as if it may even be serving as a room.
