On 21st November 1944 near Hannover it was shot down by fire from a B-17 with the loss of pilot Oberfähnrich Karl-Heinz Schirmacher. The frame was recovered in November 1997 and after an extensive restoration, including the original DB 605A motor, is now airworthy and a fine addition to the Hangar 10 collection at Heringsdorf.
