Air Line Feeder System was a small airline that served the New England region of the US. Ceased operations in September 1939. NC15109 flew on into the 1950s in Alaska. The last registered owner was Grand Central Airport Co at Glendale, CA. Registration cancelled in 1955 and the airport closed a few years later. The airport was run by Corliss Moseley, who continued to restore old aircraft on the airport site until 1972. What happened to NC15109 (N15109) is not known. Delivered to Eastern Provincial Airways July 5, 1960, this Otter operated Newfoundland Government Department of Health's air ambulance service replacing an EPA DHC-2 Beaver. It was replaced by a Turbo Beaver in 1967 and moved to flying passengers and freight. In 1970, EPA sold their bush division to Labrador Airways, but CF-MIT was acquired by Austin Airways. The aircraft was entoute to Timmins, ON on September 4, 1976 when weather deteriorated. It hit power lines flying up the Abitibi River near the Abitibi Canyon Dam. "Air Age Debut: Introducing new features of speed, comfort and operating efficiency to air travelers is United Airlines' four-engined, five-mile-a-minute Mainliner 300 (Douglas DC-6), accommodating up to 52-56 passengers plus 6000 pounds of cargo. Airport scenes such as this emphasize the immensity of the new luxury airliners with their 117 ½ foot wing span and 100 ½ foot length." (United Air Lines Photograph)
