Equivalent to the civil CV-340 but with the addition of a large cargo door, 36 R4Y-1s were supplied to the US Navy. This C-131F still carries its markings as operated till 1986 from NAS Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

This former Kenmore Air DHC-3T Otter, N708KA, was delivered to Key West Seaplane Adventures on March 18, 2023 and was photographed at Key West International Airport on May 13, 2023 with Kenmore Air titles still visible on rear fuselage. The aircraft was originally delivered to the RCAF in Dec. 1954 as 3692. Following retirement in 1980, its as exported to the USA in January 1983 as N2634Y and flew in the US until 2001 when it returned to Canada as C-GIWQ. This DHC-3T Turbo Otter was originally delivered to Stanolind Oil & Gas Company of Fort Nelson, BC. in March 1960 as CF-NFI. It mostly operated in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario for the next 54 years until converted to turbine in about 2010. DHC-3T Otter N435B was one of three DHC-3T Turbo Otters flying for Key West Seaplane Adventures in May 2023. The aircraft mostly fly tourists between Key West Airport and Fort Jefferson and Dry Tortugas, 70 miles to the west. Otter msn 183 was delivered to the RCAF in Dec. 1956 as 3743 and served with 115 Air Transport Unit, a UN support unit based in Egypt between about 1955 and 1961. Ordered by USAAF as C-47 42-32814. 6 Feb 43: TOS USN as R4D-1 37670 and assigned to VR-3, NAS Alameda, CA. 12/44: Fleet Air Wing 5. 30 Nov 46: SOC. 11/63: Cummins Engine Company, Columbus, IN, with c/r N66699. Modified into the Cummins Diesel corporate plane with many modifications. Passed to several other companies, last registration N84KB.

The Bolo was the USAAC's standard bomber in pre-war years and was based on the DC-2. Obsolete by the time the US entered the war in December 1941, several were modified as B-18B sub hunters. The last time I'd photographed this aircraft was in 1979, well before it was restored to USAAF colours. At that time it was under civil registration N66267 with scrubbed "Roberts Aircraft - Dusting Spraying - Boise Idaho" titles still visible on the natural metal fuselage. Now displayed in the 1942 marks of 25th Antisubmarine Wing, 4th Antisubmarine Sqdn, Langley AAF, VA

Year by year, Neptune 203's condition is getting worse. Compared to my picture taken in 2002, the fuselage has received water and corrosion damage and the tail has been cut off for preservation at the former Naval Air Station Hato.

When this T-29B was transferred from the USAF to the USN and converted to VT-29B, it retained its USAF serial. Seen in the mid-1960s colours of VT-29, NAS Corpus Christi, TX

As a C-121A, this Constellation flew the route from Westover AFB to Rhein-Main and back in support of the Berlin Airlift in 1949 and was converted to VC-121A in 1950. From June 1951 to March 1952 used as the personal aircraft of General Eisenhower, SHAPE Commander, based at Paris-Orly airport, named "Columbine". Eisenhower used a second VC-121A, 48-8610, named "Columbine II" after he became President in 1953. This in turn was replaced by VC-121E 53-7885 "Columbine III" in 1953

When retired to MASDC at Davis Monthan in 1964, this C-47 was in silver/white top scheme having last served the MN ANG and was an early exhibit on base in 'Celebrity Row'. Restored by Pima in D-Day USAAF colours.

Delivered to Continental Air Lines as CV340 N90852 in 1952. To North Central Airlines in 1959 and converted to a CV440 then to a CV580 in 1968. They merged into Republic Airlines in 1979. To Key Airlines as N32KA in 1981. Operated by Air Florida Commuter from 1983 to 1984 then used by other operators. To Kelowna Flightcraft as C-GKFG in 1997 and still in service with them in 2024.
