Retired from the Spanish Air Force on 27 January 1983. It was exported to the U.S. in the early 1990s and registered as N4280X. Registration expired on 29 October 2013.

Built in 1969. Written off in a sadly fatal climb out accident from Wilbarger County Municipal Airport, Texas en route for Austin on 16 May 1998. Port engine lost power shortly after takeoff, followed by an uncontrolled descent in which the aircraft impacted a highway and was destroyed by fire.

Setting sun at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. This Sea Fury participated in the Reno Air Races from 1988 through 1994 as "Cottonmouth", using race number 20. In 2008 it had a non fatal accident at Reno, and the airframe was heavily damaged. In 2011 it was exported to Germany and registered as D-CACE, where it is in restoration.

This a/c was exported to Australia in 2014, and is currently registered there as VH-FNO.

Built as USAAF P-51D 45-11540. Owned by Mr. J. Michaels of Oconomowoc, WI. when this slide was taken. This a/c is now based in Europe, but is still registered as N151W.

Built in 1952 for the USAF, then transferred to the US Army in 1955. Retired from military service by 1958. Variously N7164C, CF-MHR, and N7942C before becoming CF-ZKU in 1970.

Survived with N7316C, parked at Auburn-Lewiston, Maine adjacent to owner Maurice Roundy's house. Flew with TWA from 1958, then acquired by Alaska Airlines as a freighter in 1962, passing through a number of hands from 1968, initially as a bulk oil carrier. Arrived here in 1986. Bought by Lufthansa at a bankruptcy auction in 2007 as part of a restoration project. Not then flyable due to wing corrosion and used as a spares source for N7613C. Refurbished for static display in original TWA colours. Currently in use as a cocktail bar at the TWA Hotel adjacent to the old TWA terminal at JFK Airport.

This was the first prototype BD-10. The BD-10 was designed for supersonic flight, but never exceeded the speed of sound. Five were built, with three lost in fatal crashes. It was designed to be sold as a homebuilt kit, and three were completed as such. N2BD still exists, and is owned by Fuel Fresh, Inc. of Phoenix, Az. It is registered as N98MJ, but is not currently airworthy.

The shot was taken in July 1994, in Sept-Îles, Quebec. At Sept-Îles / Lac des Rapides Water Aerodrome, CSM8, Alexandair's base.

The C-54E was bought by Buffalo Airways the following year, and is still current with them at Yellowknife, North West Territories, where I photographed it again years later.
