In March 1974 G-ASGO was hijacked. It landed at Amsterdam-Schiphol where the hijackers set fire to the aircraft. It was declared damaged beyond repair and in 1975 the scrap man came in to do his job. Here the aircraft is seen being cut up. See also here
After its service life Neptune 210 was transferred to the KLM technical school. It was transported by vessel from Valkenburg to Schiphol. Here it is lifted on board of the barge near the Haagse Schouw bridge in Valkenburg. The KLM logo is already on the nose of the aircraft.
For the movie 'A Bridge too Far' many Dakota's were assembled on Deelen airbase, where the air transport shots were taken. The Danish air force had some of their Dakotas dispatched. K-687 was one of these. Here it is seen in the sand colours of the movie, but with its Danish serial and markings in place.
