Thia Noralpha was built in 1947 and flew with the Aero Club Rene Mouchotte at Ermenonville, Ile France Haute-Normandie as F-BLEZ. The registration was cancelled in 1965 and the following year joined the Belgian register as OO-RLR until this was in turn cancelled in August 1981. The plane passed into the ownership of a pirvate collector until he passed in 2009 and the frame came to the MM Park military museum (in which there is a world class collection of tanks).

In 1986, the governments of Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK signed a memorandum of understanding to investigate an improved version of the A129, alternatively called the Joint European Helicopter Tonal or Light Attack Helicopter (LAH) with new powerplants, as well as a new rotor system, retractable landing gear, improved sensors and more powerful armament. However, the LAH project collapsed in 1990 following the UK and the Netherlands independently deciding to withdraw from the program and eventually procuring the AH-64 Apache instead. This mock-up (?) is on display at Volandia.

Built by the Canterbury Aviation Company at Sockburn (later Wigram) aerodrome. First flight at the hands of the company CFI C.M. Hill took place on January 17, 1919. Hill was killed in the aircraft on February 1 when the wings failed while performing aerobatics over the Riccarton racecourse not far from Sockburn. Hill became the first person killed in an aeroplane accident in New Zealand. The first aviation death had been a balloonist in 1899. Photo from: Air Force Museum of New Zealand

As I understand it, this fuselage section was left uncompleted when Dornier folded. If this is incorrect, or if anyone can help with more details or information, then I would be happy to update this picture. On display at this interesting place, something of a cross between a farm, zoo, restaurant and aeroplane museum.

In between the Stout AT-2 and the Ford 4-AT, Stout built this hideous trimotor aircraft. Its flying qualities were as terrible as its looks. Ford had William Stout removed from the design office and moved on with the AT-4 which looked like a metal copy of the Fokker F.VII-3m. The sole 3-AT was destroyed in a factory fire. In order to compete for the Deutsch-Archdeacon Cup rewarding the first aviator capable of flying 1,000 m in a closed circuit, Henri Farman ordered a 50 hp biplane from the manufacturer Voisin. After three and a half months of testing, the plane sucessfully completed the route on January 13, 1908, and established the manufacturer's worldwide reputation. This reproduction is on display at this super museum.

The REP Type-K was pressed into service at the start of WWI for aerial reconnaisance. As with many early-war aircraft it was not really suited for its assigned role, in this case primarily because the wing deprived the pilot of a clear downward view and the type was quicly abandoned for aicraft specifically developed for the role. In a few pictures the reg/serial is given as 58.

The experimental Antoinette VII, a further development of the Antoinette IV, was built specifically to attempt a crossing of the English Channel and claim the Daily Mail prize. Ironically, the Antoinette VII's first flight took place on 25 July 1909, the same day that Louis Blériot succeeded in crossing the channel. On display are the original fuselage and engine, but replica wings and tail unit were fitted after WWII.

This coaxial, contra-rotating helicopter was built by the Marquis Raúl Pateras Pescara de Castelluccio and is the only survivor to illustrate the work of this giant pioneer of rotary flight. The Pescara Model 2R was the first helicoopter capable of hovering for 1 minute at a height of 1 m. This exhibit is one of the oldest in the museum and one of the last machines built by Pescara, probably from elements taken from its previous helicopters. The museum do not attribute it as a 4S but it contains the Salmson 9 radial engine with a small cooling propeller, so possibly a pre-4S test frame.

'Boeing airplane C-11', perhaps at the factory. The Boeing Model 3 was a slightly revised version of the Model 2. The other two Model 3 airframes, C-5 and C-6, were sold to the US Navy and C-11, modified from airframe C-4, was reportedly delivered to a private owner in Bremerton, Washington in July 1918. Photo source says 1917 but that seems unlikely. Photo from: Katherine Stinson Pictorial Collection / University of New Mexico

The first aircraft built by William Boeing. This was Bluebill. When Boeing and his partner Conrad Westervelt were unable to interest the USN Navy they sold Bluebill and sister ship Mallard to the New Zealand Flying School. Bluebill became "F" in the school's fleet. The flying school became the basis of the New Zealand air force in 1926. Obsolete aircraft such as the Boeings were burnt but rumours have persisted they are sealed in a cave near Auckland. Photo from: Anton Berntsen/Alexander Turnbull Library

The UAE has been financing the Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF) since 2010. Besides two Alouette IIIs, the PMPF also operates three UAE-donated Ayres Thrushes. One of the three, all unmarked, is seen here (heavily cropped photo) diving to Bosaso after a maritime patrol mission.
