In order to compete for the Deutsch-Archdeacon Cup rewarding the first aviator capable of flying 1,000 m in a closed circuit, Henri Farman ordered a 50 hp biplane from the manufacturer Voisin. After three and a half months of testing, the plane sucessfully completed the route on January 13, 1908, and established the manufacturer's worldwide reputation. This reproduction is on display at this super museum. This photo is copyright © Alastair T. Gardiner, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
