This Curl carries a prominent sticker on the nose commemorating the Polish aviation pioneer and World War 2 commander, Stanisław Jakub Skarżyński. One of the first recipients of the Louis Blériot medal in 1936 for his solo flight across the southern Atlantic from Saint-Louis, Senegal to Maceio in Brazil. The flight took 20 hours 30 minutes crossing 3,582 km and establishing a distance world record in a FAI tourist plane category II. He was the first commander of the Polish Flying Schools in the UK and later CO of no 305 (Polish) Squadron. He was killed returning from raid over Bremen 26 June 1943. Built in 1979 for the Soviet AF, this AN-26 was sold to Trast Aero in 2009, initally becoming ER-AUR but soon afterwards 4L-UCK. In 2010, the indonesian national logistics agency BULOG (for Badan Urusan LOGistics, responsible to secure food distribution during crisis) leased this airframe to run food from Sentani to the Baliem Valley. Trast Aero was founded in 2004 and was active till 2010, when its assets were taken over by Aquiline International based in Sharja (UAE). In 2014, 4L-UCK was converted to AN-26B and registered as EY-325. It was observed falling apart at Sentani airport in 2022.

Seen after a period flying for the United Nations (carried code 'UN989' then 'UN988', latter also carried by YR-ADJ at same time). Delivered to the Romanian AF in Tarom colours in 1984 and was transferred to Romavia and operated by the government from March 1991. Contracted by DHL through 1995. Stored at Otopeni 1996-2006, seen at IEV as UR-GGA in July 2007 and delivered from there to Khartoum for the Sudanese AF in February 2010, becoming 7716. Last noted 2014

Around the time of this photo in 1985, Tarom An-26s were fairly regular visitors to BAe at Bournemouth in connection with the Rombac 1-11 programme. This one was delivered to the Romanian AF in Tarom colours in 1983 and was transferred to LAR by 1990. Through 1993 it served the United Nations (coded 'UN988') and in 1995/6 carried Romavia and DHL titles. To Romanian AF as 307 by 1997. Stored at Otopeni 2001-2006, at IEV 2007-2009 as UR-CFZ. To Sudanese AF 7715 in 2010, South Sudan AF SP-401 in 2017. W/o in landing accident at Yambio on 16 October 2019

Built in 1976 and operated by MAP 'Artyom' Kiev as CCCP-26215. Transferred to Artem Avia as UR-26215 by mid-1993. First noted with Uhuru Airlines in July 2003 at Bunia, DRC (Uhuru is Swahili for 'Freedom'). Stored at IEV and acquired by the State Aviation Museum in early 2012 and moved to their compound at the airport but was was due to be auctioned by Artem in March 2020 (initial asking price approx $18,500)

Built in 1979, delivered to Aeroflot's Ukraine division and to Crimea Airlines by 1994. Seen in 1998 at SHJ untitled with Kiev Air and in late 1999 with AAR Airlines. To Ukraine Air Alliance by 2004. Badly damaged on landing at Tshikapa, DRC on 13 April 2006 after bird ingestion, the nose gear impacting the runway very hard. Regarded as un-airworthy by Antonov (banned from flying in Kenya) but temporarily repaired and ferried to Mykolaiv. Leased to Air Eagle of Pakistan by early 2009, stored at Kerch (Crimea) 2014/16, moved to a safari park at Byelogorsk in 2018. Now very derelict

Built in 1975, delivered to Aeroflot's West Siberia division here at Novosibirsk and transferred to Sibir in December 1994. Registration cancelled in March 2004 as sold to Sudan and shown in official documentation as going to AZZA Air Transport, but by May 2006 was seen in service with the Sudanese AF as 26253 based at El Fasher. Given serial 7705 by August, it was equipped with wing bomb racks. Damaged beyond repair at Khartoum in April 2023 during fighting between different factions of the military
