Strange looking fake engines and props! This is one of two DC-3s on display at the parachute jumping base of the Escuela de Fuerzas Especiales No.9 (hence the "EFE-9" on the fin), along the Pan-American highway north of Latacunga. Unfortunately neither aircraft could be positively identified because all data plates had been removed. This one is fitted with regular C-47 cargo doors on the other side. This original WWII veteran served with 435 & 436 Squadrons in India from 1944-46 being used to transport supplies and troops to the British Army in Burma. Subsequently, it served in various squadrons in Canada until its retirement in 1989. It is now on display at the National Air Force Museum of Canada in this Canucks Unlimited scheme to commemorate its Burmese WWII history.

The "IORO" titles are in fact ICRC titles, which were modified to a meaningless IORO in early 2005. This was done to aid the aircraft (then 5Y-RDS) to escape from Kenya.
